XMLMax normalizes line endings in accordance with the W3C XML specification. This is the default line handling option for which carriage returns are removed and do not appear in the document after it has been saved. There is a second option for removing all line endings.
All other whitespace, such as space and tab characters, are preserved by default.
If a text node in a source document contains 3 > 2 then the treeview will show 3 > 2; the edit panel will show 3 > 2 and it is saved as 3 > 2. If the text contains contains "3 > 2" then both the treeview and edit panel will show "3 > 2" and that is how it is written when saved. This also applies to named entities in DOCTYPE node as well as entities such as  
If a file difference tool is used to compare an XML file before and after editing with XMLMax, the only differences will be actual edits made by the user and everything else will be the same.
